Workshop Explains Small Business Programs

SOCORRO, N.M. March 16, 2016 – Paul Furth of New Mexico State University will host a workshop focused on “Gaining Assistance with the SBIR/STTR Programs” at 2 p.m., Friday, April 1, in Cramer 101.

An associate professor of engineering at NMSU, Furth is an enterprise advisor with the Arrowhead center, a division of NMSU that helps researchers, start-ups and entrepreneurs with commercialization. He will discuss how Small Business Innovation Research group (SBIR) and the Small Business Technology Transfer group (SBTT) can help inventors. The Management Department at Tech has organized this event.

Faculty, staff and students are invited to learn about the assistance available through the NM FAST program, which provides SBIR / STTR proposal-preparation assistance to New Mexican small businesses. 

The workshop will provide:

· A refreshing overview of the SBIR and STTR programs;

· A discussion of the SBIR/STTR Reauthorization;

· A summary of the Phase I proposal preparation process;

·  A description of the types of assistance available through the NM FAST program to small businesses applying for SBIR/STTR awards

Furth will be available for one hour following the workshop to field questions, or in case you have a conflict with the scheduled workshop time.
