Tech Establishes Office of Communications

SOCORRO, N.M. January 22, 2016 – New Mexico Tech has established a new Office of Communications. The newly created office will have four full-time employees. The functions of the Public Information Office and Marketing will be folded into the new Office of Communications.

Thom Guengerich and Edie Steinhoff will continue current responsibilities with marketing, promotions, publications and media outreach. Additionally, Dave Lepre has been hired as Web Developer and a search for a Director is underway. The ultimate goal is to establish a comprehensive and cohesive brand, message and web presence.

The Office of Communications will be housed in the Brown Hall 111 suite of offices. Steinhoff has already relocated from Fidel Center to Brown Hall.

Jaramillo-Fleming said the new office fits nicely with the five-year Strategic Plan, which calls for better communication and promotion of the university in traditional media and social media and with the local community. She looks forward to coordinating communications efforts with all research divisions, staff offices and academic departments.
