Tech Mourns Loss Of A Student

SOCORRO, N.M. January 13, 2016 – New Mexico Tech is mourning the loss of a student, Alexander Hernandez, who passed away Saturday evening in Socorro.

Mr. Hernandez was a senior in the Computer Science and Engineering Department. Details about the incident are not yet available. Information about services will be posted when it becomes available.

University President Dr. Daniel H. Lopez expressed sorrow on behalf of the institution.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Alex’s family and friends for their tragic loss, Lopez said. “Alex was well-liked and fellow students all spoke highly of him. We, as a university community, feel a deep sense of loss over the sudden and tragic death of one of our own students. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, his friends and to all who knew him.”

Mr. Hernandez graduated from high school in Albuquerque in 2008. He transferred to New Mexico Tech in 2011.
