Victoria Ramirez (right) and Samantha Pfeiffer won second place in the student category as Flight Attendants Barbie and Pamela.

Tech students and staff showed off their creativity in costume design and execution. As always, some students went with gore or horror movie characters. Plenty of video game characters showed up as well. There was even a Flying Spaghetti Monster and Captain Underpants.

After a short delay due to an untimely fire alarm, judges from the Student Association and the staff came up with winners.

The Tech Gym crew -- only three people this year -- won the staff award for the sixth year in a row with "Leprechaun, Pot O' Gold and Rainbow." They won last year as the Flintstones and in 2009 for their full-blown recreation of Michael Jackson's "Thriller." In 2008, the gym crew was the Popeye cast. In 2007, they were the Alice in Wonderland cast. In 2006, they won with zombie outfits.
