Verge Funds N M Tech Management Department Speaker Series

SOCORRO, N.M., July 19, 2007 – Verge, an Albuquerque-based venture capital fund, has agreed to provide financial support for an ongoing speaker series at New Mexico Tech, in conjunction with an introductory management course offered by the university’s Department of Management.
Through funding provided by Verge, invited guest speakers for “Modern Management Issues,” or Management 101, will now be afforded small honoraria by the Tech Department of Management to recoup some of the costs involved with traveling to lecture at the research university in Socorro.
“We maintain good working relationships with all the venture capital funds in the state, but Verge always seems to go ‘above and beyond’ in their support of our academic degree program,” says Peter Anselmo, professor of management at New Mexico Tech and chair of the Department of Management.
“We have worked with New Mexico Tech’s management department for many years, and have found their students to be extremely capable,” says Verge managing general partner Tom Stephenson. “This new support will allow the students to gain greater real-world perspectives from the lecture series, as they further develop their own skills to become the next generation of business leaders in New Mexico.”
Management 101, which is offered every fall semester at New Mexico Tech, focuses on modern management issues and the role of managerial personnel in today's technology firms, and fully utilizes guest speakers in its curriculum to present timely overviews of current issues and research topics.
Verge is a seed and pre-seed venture capital fund, which invests in promising technology opportunities in New Mexico. More information about Verge and its limited partner interests can be found on its corporate website at www.vergefund.com.
