Loea’s 75th E-Band Wireless Link Purchased by New Mexico Tech

HONOLULU, HI, May 10, 2007 -- Loea Corporation, the first company to develop and sell high data rate E-band wireless communications products, announced today the sale of its 75th wireless link operating at data rates above 1 gigabit per second to New Mexico Tech in Socorro, New Mexico. Loea’s millimeter-wave radios provide extremely high speed, high reliability communications for multiple channels of voice, video and data over line of sight distances up to a few miles.

Dr. Daniel H. López, President of New Mexico Tech, said, “We needed a way to move real-time high-speed video imagery from field tests at our Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center (EMRTC) facility to researchers, students, and others, with communications equipment that could be repositioned quickly for different tests. Loea’s products are perfect for our application in terms of data rate, range, and ease of installation and alignment.”

Loea’s E-Band Wireless products operate in the 71-76 GHz and 81-86 GHz millimeter wave bands. Loea’s current products, the L2500, L2700 and L2800, allow full duplex data rates up to 1.5 Gigabits per second with 99.999% weather availability at distances greater than 1 km. In addition to standard gigabit Ethernet, Loea’s products support protocols used for Distributed Antenna System transport, uncompressed High Definition Television feed, and other proprietary systems. Loea’s products can be used for Enterprise Connectivity, Cellular and Wi-Max/WiFi Backahul, Remote Data Storage, First Responder Communications, and other applications where they provide a low cost alternative or backup to fiber optic connections.
