Esquivel Stirs Up Mighty Fine Posole, Dec. 19, 2000


SOCORRO, NM, December 19, 2000 -- Jennie Esquivel, assistant manager of New Mexico Tech Golf Course's snack bar, has proven she's definitely a world-class posolera, having taken a slew of top honors for her hominy-based stew at the first-ever World Championship Posole Cook-Off, which recently was held in conjunction with the Second Annual Socorro Balloon Rally.

Esquivel's posole concoctions were judged tasty enough to be awarded Grand Champion honors, as well as People's Choice and First-Place awards, at the cooking competition.

Her culinary awards are now hanging on the walls of the Tech Golf Course snack bar, where she regularly serves up heaping portions of--you guessed it--her award-winning posole to lunchtime patrons.
