Students Invited To Apply For Student Regent Position
SOCORRO, N.M. December 2, 2010 -- The deadline is approaching for New Mexico Tech students who want to apply for the position as student regent. Applications must be submitted by Friday, Dec. 17.
Students will be interviewed and selected by a committee appointed by university president Dr. Daniel H. López. The committee will submit a short list of names to newly-elected Governor Susanna Martinez for her consideration.
The student regent’s term officially will be from Jan. 1, 2011, through Dec. 31, 2012. However, the nominee will not officially assume the seat until the Governor’s selection is confirmed by the New Mexico State Legislature. The current Student Regent is William Villanueva.
Interested students can pick up an application in Brown Hall 216, the office of the Vice President of Student and University Relations. Applicants must also submit a letter of interest, resumé and transcript. Click here for the official application.
To qualify, applicants must meet these requirements:
citizenship U.S. residency New Mexico
- Full-time undergraduate or graduate student
- Good academic standing
- Registered voter
