“Our Career Fairs represent excellent opportunities for students to visit informally with potential employers,” said Chelsea Buffington, director of student services. “Techies can ask questions about entry level jobs and internship requirements and also get advice about academic classes that will help them find jobs and advance their careers.”
Representatives from several companies at the Career Fair are staying on campus to conduct interviews or information sessions the evening or day after Career Fair.
To sign up for information sessions and to schedule interviews, students must have access to Interfase, although, often, companies sign up interviews at Career Fair.
The jobs available at Career Fair companies represent virtually every discipline on campus. The exhibitors include mining companies, oil and gas firms, national laboratories, government agencies, graduate schools, military agencies, a venture capital fund, aerospace, consultants and research labs.
“We have an excellent line-up of potential employers coming to New Mexico Tech,” Buffington said. “Most, if not all, of these employers already have Tech graduates on their staff and they’re looking for more.”
Buffington said employers collectively are looking for students from every academic department. Every student nearing graduation will find opportunities that suit their interests at the Career Fair.
