Tech Opens Nominations For Student Appreciation Awards
SOCORRO, N.M. March 8, 2010 – New Mexico Tech is now accepting nominations for the 2010 Student Appreciation Awards.
“I’m thrilled that Tech is bringing back these awards this year,” Vice President of Student and University Relations Melissa Jaramillo-Fleming said. “Many of our brilliant students demonstrate leadership and service to the New Mexico Tech community. Aside from the occasional verbal ‘Thank you,’ these students are rarely acknowledged for their contributions. This is our way of showing that the university values excellence in service as well as academics.”
The winners will be honored at a special dinner Sunday, May 2. The deadline for nominations is Monday, March 22.
The Student Appreciation Awards recognize outstanding students (graduate and undergraduate) and student organizations that help their fellow students or the campus and Socorro communities. Nominees should have demonstrated exemplary performance, club service, voluntary tutoring, mentorship, leadership or volunteer work.
The criteria: successful nominees have made significant contributions to the Tech or Socorro communities and have demonstrate generosity of spirit and performance above and beyond the call of duty. Nominees must have benefited other students or the community within the last 12 months. Student nominees must be in good academic standing.
The Student Appreciation Awards Committee, comprised of members from Student and University Relations and Academic Affairs, invites faculty and staff who work directly with deserving students to nominate candidates who meet the criteria. Click here for the nomination form.
