Library Director Candidates Present Public Talks

SOCORRO, N.M. March 4, 2010 – The New Mexico Tech library search committee will host three open forums with the finalists for the vacant director position.

Former Director Owen Ellard left Tech in late 2009 to take a position at the University of New Mexico Medical Library.

Search committee chair Dr. Barbara Bonnekessen said all are invited to meet the three candidates at 10 a.m. Mondays in the Tripp Room at the Library. Each candidate will give a presentation titled, “The Library of the Future.”

Charles Wenger presented on March 1. He currently serves as a consultant and contract librarian in San Rafael, Calif.

Frank D’Andraia will be in Socorro on March 8. He is a professor in the Department of Information Studies at the State University of New York in Albany.

Lisa Beinhoff will be in Socorro on March 22. She is the director of the Learning Resources Center for Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, Ill.

Bonnekessen said the committee is pleased to have three applicants who are all qualified for the job; and that it’ll be a difficult decision.
All faculty, staff, students and community members are welcome to attend these public events.
