SOCORRO – U. S. Senator Pete Domenici is being honored by New Mexico Tech by having a permanent endowment fund established in his name at the state-supported research university.
“The Senator Pete V. Domenici Endowed Faculty Professorship in Science and Technology for National Security” will be dedicated by the university during a lunchtime campus ceremony on Tuesday, April 13, at the school’s Macey Conference Center.
Prior to the dedication luncheon, Senator Domenici and his entourage will be given tours and demonstrations at several New Mexico Tech research facilities, including the Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center field sites, the Micro-Electronics Testing and Technology Obsolescence Program (METTOP), and the IRIS/PASSCAL Seismic Instrumentation Facility.
Establishment of the Domenici Endowed Professorship was made possible through a generous donation provided by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), which was supplemented with funds made available through unrestricted gifts received during New Mexico Tech’s Commitment to Excellence fund-raising campaign.
