"Earth Matters," New Publication from Bureau, Feb. 16, 2001
SOCORRO, N.M., February 16, 2001 The New Mexico Bureau of Mines and Mineral Resources (NMBM&MR) recently published the first issue of New Mexico EARTH MATTERS, a semi-annual newsletter that is distributed free-of-charge to New Mexicans interested in the state's water, landscapes, and Earth resources.
Volume 1, number 1 of New Mexico EARTH MATTERS is primarily dedicated to on overview of New Mexico's water resources. A featured article, "Water in the Desert," by Peggy S. Johnson, a hydrogeologist at the NMBM&MR, provides a succinct, yet comprehensive, report on the state's climate variabilities, rivers, aquifers, and development, with specific focus on their direct effect on available water resources.
New Mexico EARTH MATTERS is available twice a year, free of charge, from the NMBM&MR.
