Patrick Orr Memorial Award

Patrick Orr was a young, very bright, and energetic faculty member in the Computer Science Department from January 1977 to the Fall of 1981. He died in a bicycle accident, cycling back from Owl Café.

Patrick left a significant mark during his short time at Tech. He was very popular with students, and was largely responsible for upgrading the undergraduate curriculum. He added new courses to Tech's advanced curriculum, offering courses availble to undergraduates that would only be offered as graduate courses elsewhere.

This award is to be given to an outstanding graduate student who demonstrates excellence in scholarship and potential for service in computer science education.
