Hise Named Recipient of Rust Tractor Scholarship

SOCORRO, N.M., Nov. 19 -- Jennifer G. Hise, a Placitas native who is now a senior majoring in mineral engineering at New Mexico Tech, recently was named the university's recipient of the Rust Tractor Scholarship, provided by Rust Tractor of Albuquerque.

Hise, the daughter of Neil and Ty Juana Hise of Placitas, was selected for the prestigious scholarship on the basis of her demonstrated academic excellence. The Bernalillo High School graduate has consistently maintained her grade point average (GPA) above 3.0 while pursuing her bachelor of science degree at New Mexico Tech. Hise also holds a New Mexico Tech Regents Scholarship.

Hise is an active member of the student chapter of the Society of Mining Engineers and the school's Cooney Mining Club. She also is an active participant in Tech's intramural sports program, particularly in softball, volleyball, and soccer.

During her summer breaks between semesters, Hise has worked at the ASARCO open-pit copper mine near Tucson, and at CEMCO mining-equipment manufacturers in Albuquerque.
