Gutjahr Named AGU Fellow

SOCORRO, N.M., Feb. 8, 1998 -- Dr. Allan Gutjahr, professor of mathematics at New Mexico Tech, has been named a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union. One of the few honors that AGU confers, Fellowship is awarded to scientists who have attained acknowledged eminence in one or more branches of geophysics. The number of Fellows elected each year is limited to no more than 0.1% of the total membership of AGU.

Gutjahr's work involves applying statistical techniques to problems in hydrology. From 1991 to 1997, he served as New Mexico Tech's vice president of research.
