U.S.News & World Report Ranks New Mexico Tech in Third Tierby George Zamora SOCORRO, N.M., Aug. 22, 2006 – New Mexico Tech has again been included among the more than 60 universities that make up the third tier grouping in the “Best National Universities” category in the latest annual rankings published by U.S. News & World Report. New Mexico Tech, a state-supported research university, also received mention in the previous two year’s surveys among the third tier of schools, which includes colleges and universities ranked from about the 125th to 185th position, but listed alphabetically. In addition, New Mexico Tech received special mention among national universities
by being listed among a select group of schools with the highest percentage
of students receiving merit-based financial awards, such as scholarships. The
current survey found that 35 percent of New Mexico Tech’s undergraduates
receive some form of non-need-based aid while attending the university. The magazine’s current rankings of more than 1,400 universities also are available online at www.usnews.com. -NMT- |
