Humanities Department Holds Picnic
by Shawna Carter
SOCORRO, N.M., Sept. 15, 2005—The New Mexico Tech Department of Humanities
recently hosted its annual picnic for students, faculty, and staff at the park
area known as La Raj on the campus of the state-supported science and research
university in Socorro.
The afternoon was filled with food, conversation, and fun as professors in the
Tech humanities department gathered to chat with students majoring in Technical
Communication (TC) or students with a general interest in TC or any of the minor
studies programs the department offers.
The picnic was also an opportunity for new students to get to know what the
TC program involves and what the New Mexico Tech humanities department is all
about. Experienced students and professors alike were on hand to answer questions
and address concerns.
Tech’s Department of Humanities offers a Bachelor of Science and a minor
program in TC, as well as minors in Hispanic studies, history, literature, and
philosophy.
For additional information about the humanities department at Tech, any of the
minors the department offers, or the university’s TC program, visit the
