Tech Robotics Group Presents Research Papers At Conference

by George Zamora

ORLANDO, Fla., May 6, 2004 – The Intelligent Systems and Robotics Group (ISRG), a research organization affiliated with the New Mexico Tech Department of Electrical Engineering, recently presented four research papers at the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE) Defense and Security Symposium, which was held last month in Orlando, Florida.

Three New Mexico Tech undergraduates — David Baird, John Kouns, and Wade Ogg — co-authored three of the four research papers submitted, and were cited by their research colleagues for making significant contributions to their respective papers.

During the weeklong symposium, Kouns also gave a professional presentation on his paper, “Application of Radio Control Cars as Intelligent Unmanned Ground Vehicles with Collaborative and Independent Behavior,” during a panel session.

The titles of the other ISRG research papers submitted were: “Power Control in ad hoc Networks: An Overview,” “A Hybrid Fuzzy Statistical Contour Model,” and “An Unmanned Ground Vehicle for Landmine Remediation.”
