"Taking a Spin . . ."
Socorro, May 3, 2004 -- "TAKING A SPIN . . ." Members of the New Mexico Tech Physics Club put on a hands-on physics demonstration at the recent Rocky Mountain Talent Search awards ceremony, which was held in the university’s Workman Center. Several 5th through 9th grade students from throughout New Mexico (including the young lady in the foreground shown taking a ride on a spinning platform) were honored during the ceremony for having posted the highest scores in the state in their grade levels on SAT, ACT, and PLUS tests. Rocky Mountain Talent Search is an academic talent search program providing opportunities for assessment, recognition, and summer enrichment programs for academically talented youth in Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.
