SOCORRO, September 27, 2004 – Penelope J. Boston, a research associate professor of cave and karst science at New Mexico Tech, will be featured prominently in the second segment of the “NOVA” four-part miniseries, “Origins,” which is scheduled to be broadcast tomorrow evening on PBS television affiliates throughout the nation.

“Origins: How Life Began,” hour two of the groundbreaking miniseries, will air locally at 8 p.m. on Albuquerque station KNME, Channel 5.

Boston, a noted expert on cave geomicrobiology, also has been asked to participate today in a NASA Administrator’s Symposium on “Exploration and Risk.” The symposium will be carried live this afternoon on NASA TV and simultaneously webcast on www.nasa.gov, beginning at 3:30 p.m. (MDST).

In addition, upcoming articles on Boston and her speleological research are scheduled to be published in “Reader’s Digest” and “Wired” magazine sometime later this fall.
