NMT Ranks Well in William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition
New Mexico Tech congratulates the group of seven New Mexico Tech
students who competed in the 64th annual William Lowell Putnam
Mathematical Competition, held on December 6, 2003. The New Mexico
Tech team ranked 99th out of 479 institutions that participated in the
competition. Individually, NMT student Alex Rand was in the top 200 out
of over 3600 contestants, and NMT student Samuel Collopy ranked in the
top 500.
The seven students are: Alex Rand, Carsten Steinebach, Jeremiah
Gage, Jarrod Lombardo, Samuel Collopy, Justin Dressel, and David
Creswick. Their faculty advisor is Ivan Avramidi.
The Putnam competition is an annual contest for undergraduate
students in the United States and Canada.
