Gov. Richardson Appoints Three New Regents

SANTA FE, January 22, 2003 -- New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson
today announced his appointments of regents to each of the governing
boards of the state's universities, including three new regents
for New Mexico Tech. The appointments are subject to approval
by the legislature.
The newly appointed regents at New Mexico Tech are:
- Jerry Armijo, a Socorro lawyer who has served on the
Commission
on Higher Education for more than five years,
including a stint as chairman of the commission for the past
one-and-a-half years;
- Richard Carpenter, a retired Santa Fe lawyer who has practiced
law in New Mexico for 40 years; and
- Isaiah Storey, a New Mexico Tech senior majoring in chemical
engineering who hails from Albuquerque and is a graduate of St.
Pius X High School.
In addition to the regent appointments, Governor Richardson
announced a proposed state budget which includes a three percent
pay increase for university faculty throughout New Mexico.
