NM Tech Residential Life Coordinator Has Article Published
by George Zamora
SOCORRO, N.M., May 23, 2002 -- Laurie Tennison, residential life
coordinator at New Mexico Tech, recently had her article, "Show
Me the Money: An In-Depth Look at RA Compensation," published
in the current issue of RA Manager, a monthly newsletter
distributed to more than 1,300 colleges and universities in the
United States.
Tennison also recently was named to this year's editorial
advisory board for PaperClip Communications, the publisher of
RA Manager and other newsletters and various resources
for students and staff employed in higher education settings.
In her recent article, Tennison explores one of the hottest
topics among Resident Assistants (RAs) throughout the nation's
campuses--the recurring issue of compensation packages.
"It's best to be prepared, because at some point a staff
member will come to you with a compensation issue," Tennison
writes, "either he is not getting paid enough, or he has
done the research and an RA at another institution is getting
paid more."
"Ms. Tennison was hand-picked due to her experience
in the field of student affairs, her knowledge of student development
issues, and her enthusiasm for the work," says Julie Phillips,
assistant publisher of PaperClip Communications. "We were
pleased to publish her article, and know that the information
benefited our readers."
