GLOBE Teacher Training Workshop
"GLOBAL
IMPLICATIONS . . ." November 6, 2001 -- The Global Learning
and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) science and
education program recently held one of its Teacher Training Workshops
on the New Mexico Tech campus in Socorro. The research university
offered the GLOBE workshop to several New Mexico teachers through
its Master of Science Teaching (MST) degree program. After attending
the intensive three-day workshop, participating teachers will
take their experiences back into the classroom, where their students
will be allowed to join GLOBE's international network of students,
scientists, and teachers working together to learn more about
the environment. The GLOBE workshop was sponsored by New Mexico
Tech's MST program, Scientists Organized to Integrate Learning
(SOIL), and the Sustainability of Semi-Arid Hydrology and Riparian
Areas (SAHRA) consortium. Pictured are a group of New Mexico
teachers participating in one of the workshop's classroom sessions.
