SOCORRO, N.M., May 4, 2001 -- Timothy Wangler, a native of Clovis
who is now a graduating senior majoring in chemical
engineering at New Mexico Tech, recently was named the research
university's "Engineering Student of the Year," an annual
award presented by the New Mexico Society of Professional Engineers
(NMSPE).Wangler, a graduate of Clovis High School, is the son of John and Nora Wangler of Clovis. He was selected for the prestigious honor from a field of several outstanding engineering students by an interdisciplinary committee comprised of engineering professors at New Mexico Tech and current officers and members of NMSPE. Wangler is scheduled to graduate next week (May 12) with
a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering with highest
honors from New Mexico Tech. Wangler says he plans on working at Intel after graduation. As an undergraduate at New Mexico Tech, Wangler currently serves as vice president of the student chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and also is a member of Tau Beta Phi, the national engineering honor society. He lists reading and participating in intramural soccer as some of his favorite pastimes. "All in all, it's been a great college experience here at New Mexico Tech," Wangler says. "I've got plenty of memories of the past four years . . . and, I'm going to miss it." -NMT- | |
