Ellen Goodblat Speaks on Relationships

SOCORRO, N.M. -- Nationally renowned relationship speaker Ellen
Gootblatt will speak on "Meeting, Dating, Relating, and Mating"
on Tuesday, January 23, at 7:30 p.m. in Room 212 of the New Mexico
Tech Library. Gootblatt lectures at over 100 colleges each year,
enlightening and entertaining audiences of all ages about what
to look for in a healthy relationship. The free lecture is sponsored
by Student Produced Leisure Activities at Tech (SPLAT) and the
New Mexico Tech Student Association.
Gootblatt describes herself as a Jewish Brooklyn street kid who
has been told she resembles Bette Midler and Barbra Streisand.
She taught English for 22 years to junior and senior high school
students in the New York City area and helped develop a class,
"How to Be a Terrific Human Being." She has also hosted
a radio talk show about relationships, which was broadcast in
39 states. On the show she interviewed celebrities such as John
Denver, George Carlin, Lucille Ball, and Kris Kristofferson.
Gootblatt has also written several books, including Men are
Worth the Trouble: Translating, Understanding, and Celebrating
Men, and Meeting, Dating, Relating, and Mating: 250 Important
Questions to Ask Before You Go Further in a Relationship.
Her talk in Socorro will focus on identifying qualities of successful
- and unsuccessful - relationships. Included in her talk will
be discussion of sex, passion, intimacy, parenting, and self esteem.
A warm, spontaneous, and motivational speaker, Gootblatt enjoys
speaking to singles and couples alike.
The public is invited; refreshments will be provided.
