Tech Club Makes Holiday Merrier for Socorro Families

SOCORRO, N.M., December 12, 2001 -- In a tangible expression of holiday spirit, all the members of the New Mexico Tech Club decided at their last meeting to raise at least $125 to "sponsor" a Socorro family, providing the parents and children with presents and food items and ensuring the family's Christmas dinner would be a special one this year.

However, soon after taking up a collection among its ranks, Tech Club members quickly realized that the total for donations collected was $137 more than the initial goal.

As is usually the case, too much money was not a problem!

The overachieving generosity of the club's members has instead resulted in two Socorro families receiving toys, clothes, and food for the holidays--courtesy of the New Mexico Tech Club.
