International Undergraduate (B.S. Degree) Admission Requirements

Students who wish to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree at New Mexico Tech must have graduated from secondary school with the equivalent of a 2.5 grade point average and have taken the following secondary coursework:

  • Language—a minimum of four years of language instruction in the native or national language. If English is not your native language, a TOEFL score of at least 540 (paper-based), 207 (computer-based), or 76 (internet-based) is required.   • Mathematics—a minimum of three years, which must include algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or higher course work .
  • Science—a minimum of two years of sciences, with laboratories, chosen from among biology, physics, chemistry, and earth science.
  • Social Science—a minimum of three years, one of which must be history

To apply for admission you must:

  • Complete an International Online Application.
  • Complete and sign the Certificate of Financial Responsibility (pdf) . Attach letters of financial support from family and friends. Please see Estimated Costs (pdf) for International Students.
  • Follow instructions provided with either online or paper applications.
  • Provide a credentials evaluation of all required academic documents. This evaulation is to be compiled by World Education Services (WES), an independent credential evaluation provider. We recommend that you review the Frequently Asked Questions listed on the WES website. Click here to apply for this. Wes requires a fee from the applicant for processing applications.

Please make note of the following:

  • You do not need to have any documents sent from your institution to New Mexico Tech. Your documents will go to WES. New Mexico Tech will receive a copy of the original documents along with the evaluation.
  • High School applicants must request the Document-by-Document report; college transfer applicants must request the Comprehensive Course-by-Course Report.
  • Take care to submit all supporting documentation (official TOEFL score, bank documents, etc.) to New Mexico Tech as instructed. Be sure to read and follow the advice in How to Prepare and Send Application Documents(pdf).
  • New Mexico Tech reserves the right to require an advanced deposit equal to out-of-state tuition and fees for one academic year.

If you have already completed some university-level studies, you may want to transfer credits to New Mexico Tech. If so, be sure to also send official course descriptions, in English.

Application files must be complete (all required documentation

    October 1 for spring semester

Your application for admission (and the possibility of transfer credit) will be reviewed as soon as all documents are received.

New Mexico Tech reserves the right to require an advance deposit of funds equal to the out-of-state tuition and fees for one academic year.
