    By Dave Wheelock

Western USA Collegiate Rugby Championships in Dallas
    By Dave Wheelock

The only victories recorded by the New Mexico Tech Rugby Club over the weekend at the Western USA Rugby Union's Division II championships in Dallas were moral ones, as the team fell behind in all three of its matches before beginning futile comebacks. The team was pummeled by 2002 Final Four powerhouse Sam Houston State (45-0) and then Northeastern (Oklahoma) State University (47-10) on Saturday before achieving a measure of respectability in a 12-5 Sunday morning loss to Pittsburg State (Kansas) in a match that could have gone either way. Tech Rugby Club Romps over Brujos
    By Dave Wheelock

The Pygmy ruggers of New Mexico Tech exacted a measure of revenge Saturday with a 46-24 romp over the Brujos Rugby Club. Last spring season, it was the Brujos over the Pygmies twice, by 26-24 and 27-7 scores. All seven of Tech's tries were touched down by back line players, a fleet group of seven the Albuquerque club could not hope to contain. View Entire Article »

    NMT Ruggers Overcome Odds
    By Dave Wheelock

As happens from time to time, the demands upon budding engineers and scientists dealt New Mexico Tech's rugby team lemons last weekend (Sept. 27-28). And so, in the best tradition of the 30-year-old club, a shorthanded Pygmy team made lemonade, managing two tournament wins against one loss in the rarified air of Flagstaff, Arizona. NMT Ruggers Are Accommodating Hosts
    By Dave Wheelock

New Mexico Tech's Pygmies were the perfect rugby hosts for their elders, the Ancestor alumni team, over the 49ers weekend (Oct. 24-25, 2003). They welcomed the veterans with a fine meal at a local restaurant on Friday night, hosted a golf tournament on Saturday morning, and entertained with a bonfire on Saturday night. And, for that special touch, they dutifully lost the annual Black & Blue rugby match before a good crowd on Friday afternoon, by the convincing score of 51-10. View Entire Article »
