Owl Bar Run (8:00 am)

all day, start from Tech Gym.  Enjoy the breath taking views and the beautiful fall weather along the Rio Grande as you walk, jog or run the 13 mile course from Tech gymnasium to the Owl Bar in San Antonio, NM. This is a non-competitive event. Participation can be individual or as a group. Participants can leave any time during the day. 


Water stations will be placed along the trail at the 4 mile marker, 6, 8, 10, and 12. Once you reach the Owl, the friendly folks inside will give one complimentary non-alcoholic drink of your choice.


Transportation back to Socorro is available ONLY ONCE at 6:30 pm. The  Physical Recreation Department will have Owl Bar Run t-shirts free for participants or $5.00 for non-participants. Maps can be picked up at the gym.

Dia De Los Muertos Family Day (0:00 - midnight)

Noon to 3 p.m., Macey Center. Hands-on Dia de los Muertos Arts & Crafts Workshops:  Learn about the Día de los Muertos celebration, create traditional arts and crafts, and view ofrendas that honor families and individuals.  The afternoon includes presentations on the history of the holiday, hands-on art stations, student and artist ofrendas; led by arts educators from the National Hispanic Cultural Center.

Socorro Striders And Riders 5K (9:00 am)

Meets at 9am in front of the EMRTC building, at “The Snake”.

Costumes encouraged; possible prizes.

$5 series entry fee, and participants must be members of Socorro Striders and Riders.

There is no pre-registration; show up the morning of the race, and if necessary fill out Socorro Striders and Riders membership forms on spot.

$25 prize for the series championship in each age group.
