Thursday, Oct. 22

ALUMNI: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Sign-in with Advancement/ Alumni Office. Refreshments.
Atrium, Fidel Center

STUDENTS: Sorry, Powderpuff Football Game is cancelled this year.

STUDENTS: 4 p.m., Field Games, north side of the Athletic Field. Food games start at 5 p.m.

ALUMNI: 5:30 - 8 p.m., Pavilion across from Golf Pro Shop. Barbecue for alumni and faculty. Current faculty and emeritus faculty in Socorro area invited to this casual social event allowing alumni and faculty to re-connect. This event is outdoors; please dress appropriately for weather. 575-835-5525.

STUDENTS: Comedy Night, 8 pm in Macey Center. Marcus the Comedian. Marcus is a one-of-a-kind talent who has quickly become one of the fastest rising young comedians around! His high energy, rock n’ roll based comedy captured the attention of millions of Americans when he was featured on the 2008 season of NBC’s hit television series, “LAST COMIC STANDING,” where his unique style helped him stand out and propelled him all the way to second place! ALUMNI: SPE Gold Rush Golf Tournament. 9 a.m. sign-in. 10 a.m., tee-off. 4 man scramble, $49 per person, includes green fees, cart. To sign-up contact Karen Balch at 575-835-5412

ALUMNI: NINERS UNITED! Alumni Lunch (dutch treat), noon, M Mountain Grill

ALUMNI: EMRTC tour. Limited number of spaces, requires sign-up. Leaves from EMRTC parking lot 1:30 p.m.

STUDENTS: Tail Gate Party with free BBQ for students. South side of Athletic Field, starting at 3 till halftime of rugby match. Residence Hall Assn. presents “Pack the Stands.” SA PR Committee presents “Make Your Own Shirt.” SWEet Sheep Photo.

ALUMNI: Campus walking tour, leaving from Fidel Atrium, 3:30 p.m.

EVERYONE: “Black and Blue” Rugby Match 4:30 p.m., Current Pygmies vs. Ancestors, on Tech Athletic Field

Rugby Football Club dinner: 6:30 p.m., at Cap. Contact person: Dave Wheelock. -5854.

STUDENTS: 8 - 10 p.m., Bonfire, shuttles from Fidel parking lot.

Saturday, Oct. 24

EVERYONE: 49ers Parade: NMT, Superstar! 11 a.m. (line-up at 10 a.m.) California St.

ALUMNI: Alumni Luncheon and Annual General Meeting. After parade, starting approx. noon. Buffet [New Mexican fare] $15. Fidel Center, Third Floor dining room

STUDENTS: Students vs. Staff volleyball game 1-3 p.m., Athletic Field

STUDENTS: Student Club Showcase, 1 – 3 p.m., Athletic Field

EVERYONE: Soccer Match: Miners vs. Alumni Miners, 2 p.m., Tech Athletic Field

ALUMNI: [open to all] 2:30 p.m., Fidel 3rd Floor. Kathy McGrade, a 1979 alumnus, speaks on the collapse of World Trade Center Buildings on 9/11/2001, focusing on the evidence specific to materials engineering.

STUDENTS: Casino Night and Bordello Night at Macey Center. Casino starts at 4 p.m., bordello starts at 9 p.m.

EVERYONE: Vigilante Band plays from 9 p.m. till “late” at the Cap


Sunday, Oct. 25

EVERYONE: M Mountain Run, organized and managed by Research Office. 9 a.m., starting from foot of M Mountain. Requires sign-up in advance. Contact ltripp@admin.nmt.edu.

ALUMNI: Tour of Magdalena Ridge Observatory. Boxed lunches, $8 per person. Leaves from Fidel Center parking lot at 11 a.m. Requires sign-up in advance by calling 575-835-5525. Must have own 4-wheel drive vehicle, or ride with someone who does. Maximum of 50 people. Dan Klinglesmith will meet us at Fidel Center and lead the way up.

  • Will reach Water Canyon by 11:30
  • Ridge by noon, eat box lunches indoors, out of wind
  • Tour of interferometer, led by Dan Klinglesmith, approx. 1 to 1:45 p.m.
  • Tour of 2.4 meter bldg approx. 1:45 to 2:30 p.m., led by Eileen Ryan
  • Leave ridge by 2:30 p.m.
  • Back in Socorro by 3:30 p.m.

 

STUDENTS: Driscoll vs. Presidents Volleyball Game: 1 p.m., Athletic Field.

STUDENTS: North vs. South Football Game: 2 p.m., Athletic Field.
