Jeff Corey

Jeff Corey is the Asset Development Manager for ConocoPhillips' large San Juan Basin operations based in Farmington, NM. He is a Dec. 1983, graduate of New Mexico Tech in Petroleum Engineering. He joined Conoco immediately after graduation and has worked in Hobbs NM, Lafayette, LA (twice), Dubai UAE, Caracas Venezuela and Houston during his 24 years with ConocoPhillips. Jeff comes from a family of Techies as his father, Jim Corey, was a long-time professor at Tech and has two brothers, Ray and Craig, who are also Tech grads.

Jeff and his wife of 22 years, Caroline, live in Durango, Colorado. They have one son, Alex, who attends Colorado School of Mines and one daughter, Tatiana, who is a senior in high school and is currently looking at colleges for next year.

Jeff offers the following advice to current NMT petroleum students: "You have picked a GREAT industry to go into with tremendous diversity and opportunities. The hardest part is getting "in the door" with an employer once you graduate. This requires perseverance more than anything else, but having a quality resume and strong interviewing skills are also essential."

Jeff's contributions to the department have been tremendous. He has sponsored numerous SPE events, including the 49'ers Gold Rush Golf Scramble, and, with some other PE's at ConocoPhillips in Farmington, have organized receptions and field trips for our students in the Four Corners region of the state. Jeff also serves on the New Mexico Tech Petroleum Engineering Industrial Advisory Board.
