Obstacle Course & Luminarias

To commemorate National Breast Cancer Month, the student chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers is hosting a fund-raising obstacle course on campus. While the purpose is for the course to be educational and to raise awareness and funds towards research, it is also meant to be fun, safe and non-disruptive. Every participant completes a brain or brawn task at, or even on the way to, a station, and receives a pink item after completion. Each station will have items for participants and items for a “donation.” Student clubs are encouraged to participate by volunteering at a specific station during the obstacle course. The club who collects the largest amount fundraising will receive a $100 Visa gift card from donors, Karen and Robert Balch, for their club’s needs. Additional prizes and awards will be available. Prizes and awards will be announced at 4:45 p.m. Student club winner will be announced on Monday, October 29. The student chapter of the American Association of Drilling Engineers will be selling luminarias for $5. The luminarias will be lit at 6 p.m. that night on the Athletic Field. The course is open to anyone to participate. The registration fee is $10. Anyone interested in participating in the obstacle course should contact Karen Balch at kmbalch@nmt.edu or call 835-5412.
