\nTo commemorate National Breast Cancer Month\, the student chapter of the Society of Petroleum Eng ineers is hosting a fund-raising obstacle course on campus. While the purp ose is for the course to be educational and to raise awareness and funds t owards research\, it is also meant to be fun\, safe and non-disruptive. Ev ery participant completes a brain or brawn task at\, or even on the way to \, a station\, and receives a pink item after completion. Each station wil l have items for participants and items for a “donation.” Student clubs ar e encouraged to participate by volunteering at a specific station during t he obstacle course. The club who collects the largest amount fundraising w ill receive a $100 Visa gift card from donors\, Karen and Robert Balch\, f or their club’s needs. Additional prizes and awards will be available. Pri zes and awards will be announced at 4:45 p.m. Student club winner will be announced on Monday\, October 29. The student chapter of the American Asso ciation of Drilling Engineers will be selling luminarias for $5. The lumin arias will be lit at 6 p.m. that night on the Athletic Field. The course i s open to anyone to participate. The registration fee is $10. Anyone inter ested in participating in the obstacle course should contact Karen Balch a t kmbalch@nmt.edu or call 835-5412.
