Rapper Wake Self Performance

Albuquerque-based rapper Wake Self will perform a set of his own original songs in the Fidel Center at noon. Wake Self's songs feature positive, uplifting themes about local New Mexico pride, gender equity, and being anti-discriminatory. This event is free and open to the public.

Guest Lecture: Hip Hop, New Mexico, and Gender Equity

Albuquerque-based rapper Wake Self will be in conversation with Dr. Shawn Higgins of the CLASS Department about hip hop culture. Topics to be discussed include the genre's defining features, dominant themes, and problematic issues. This talk takes place during Dr. Higgins' HUMA 189 "Hip Hop and American Popular Culture" course. All are welcome to attend, regardless of registration in the course. 2 p.m. in MSEC 195.
