NRAO Colloquium

Date: Fri. 17 Nov, 2017 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Duration: 1 Hour
Location: NRAO

Gordon Richards of Drexel University will present the NRAO-Socorro colloquium. His talk is "A Modern View of Quasars." He will contrast a view of quasars as diverse *processes* with their traditional view as more static *things*. Understanding the relative rarity of radio emission in luminous quasars is crucial to understanding their evolution. Analysis of emission and absorption line properties of quasars provides revealing insights into the their radio properties. In particular, there is no such thing as a "typical" radio-quiet quasar with which to compare radio-loud quasars. 11 a.m. in the auditorium of the Domenici Science Operations Center (NRAO).
