10:30 – 11:45 am, Grantsmanship. Resources available at NMT to support proposal
work, overview of the proposal submission process. (Carlos Romero and Van Romero,
12:00 – 1:50 pm, Benefits and employee policies. Explanation of benefits and policies
focused on faculty issues. Required for all new faculty. Lunch will be provided! If

2:00 – 2:50 pm, What you need to know about Title IX. Faculty responsibilities for
reporting sexual harassment cases, how Title IX investigations are conducted, resources
available for students, faculty, and staff. (Lynn Arthur, CITL.)
3:00 – 3:50 pm, Student mental health. How to help students who appear to have mental
health issues and/or deal with disruptive behavior. Resources available and stress
reduction techniques. (Angela Gautier, Melissa Begay, CITL.)
4:00 – 4:50 pm, Successfully navigating tenure. Overview of the NMT tenure process.
How to get the most from your annual reviews, and common themes to problematic
tenure cases. (Doug Wells, Lorie Liebrock, Bill Stone, Kevin Wedeward, Peter Mozley;
5:00 – 6:30 pm, Refreshments at the M-Mountain Grill. A chance for informal
conversations with new faculty, continuing faculty, and administrators. Hors d'oeuvres
and cash bar.
