NRAO Colloquium

Date: Fri. 27 May, 2016 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Duration: 1 Hour
Location: NRAO

Greg Hellbourg, of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization in Australia, is the guest speaker for the NRAO-Socorro Colloquium. His talk is titled "RFI Mitigation for Array Radio Telscopes: Solutions and Limitations." The design of next generation radio telescopes has to take into account the increasing spectrum occupancy due to the deployment of new broadcasting technologies and the adoption of opportunistic transmission schemes. Active RFI mitigation is becoming necessary for modern Earth-based telescopes in order to stay competitive and keep delivering high quality scientific results. Hellbourg will present practical solutions to the RFI problem for modern radio telescopes, as well as real data processing results. 11 a.m. in the auditorium of the Domenici Science Operations Center (NRAO).
