New Mexico Tech has started a new distinguished lecture program, where members of the Tech faculty will present their work to the public. The first of these free events will be at 7 p.m., Friday, April 29, at the Macey Center on Tech campus.
Dr. Michelle Creech-Eakman, physics professor and project scientist of the MRO Interferometer, will present the first lecture in the series. Her talk is titled "Discovering and Exploring New World." Creech-Eakman will discuss some of the new research on finding exoplanets (planets in other solar systems). Creech-Eakman is also the principal investigator for NESSI, the New Mexico Extrasolar Spectroscopic Instrument, an instrument purpose-built to characterize exoplanets at the MRO's 2.4-meter telescope.
The public is invited and the talk will be followed by a reception.
