Physics Department Seminar

Date: Thu. 18 Feb, 2016 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Duration: 1 Hour
Location: Workman Center

Dr. Tim Hankins of the Physics Department and the NRAO is the guest speaker for the Physics Department seminar. His talk is titled "The Crab Nebula Pulsar: Enigmas." The Crab Pulsar, which resulted from a supernova explosion in year 1054 A. D., has been studied intensely over a wide range of wavelengths, yet it continues to reveal new phenomena that challenge explanation. Hankins will review the standard models for pulsar geometry and radio emission physics. He will also compare those predictions with observations of the Crab pulsar radio emission. 4 p.m. in Workman 101.
