Physics Department Seminar

Date: Thu. 5 Nov, 2015 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Duration: 1 Hour
Location: Workman Center

Paul Demorest  of the NRAO will present the Physics Department seminar. His talk is titled "Detecting Gravitational Waves with Millisecond Pulsars."  Millisecond spin-period radio pulsars provide scientists with unique astronomical "laboratories" for exploring fundamental physics in a variety of ways -- from the physics of matter at super-nuclear density, to experimental tests of gravity.  They have also provided the only experimental evidence so far for the existence of gravitational waves. 4 p.m. in Workman 101.
