Physics Department Seminar

Date: Thu. 29 Jan, 2015 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Duration: 1 Hour
Location: Workman Center

Dr. Luis Millan is a post-doc at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology. He will present the Physics Department seminar. His talk is titled "SMILES, CloudSat and MLS Cloud Ice Measurements: Diurnal Variability and Particle Size Distribution.". Millan will discuss the synergy of collocated A-train radar backscatter CloudSat measurements and MLS limb radiances in search of a better understanding of cloud ice particle size distributions (PSDs). For each "scene" jointly observed by CloudSat and MLS, we quantify the ability of each of several candidate PSDs to account for the observed signals. 4 p.m. in Workman 101.
