Duration: 1 Hour
Location: NRAO

This week's NRAO-New Mexico Colloquium will feature Dr. Thomas Prince of Caltech. He will discuss "Exploring the Variable Sky: The Palomar Transient Factory and the Future Zwicky Transient Facility." In August, the NSF announced that it would be funding the completion of the Zwicky Transient Facility , a new imager for time domain astronomy at optical wavelengths. This talk will discuss some of the highlights of the observations and describe the next generation of the Palomar Transient Factory. Prince is a professor of physics, senior scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the director of the W.M. Keck Institute for Space Studies at CalTech. This colloquium starts at 11 a.m. in the Domenici Science Operations Center (NRAO) auditorium.
