NRAO Colloquium

Date: Fri. 28 Jun, 2013 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Duration: 1 Hour
Location: NRAO

Dr. Jose-Maria Torrelles is a research professor at the CSIC in Madrid, Span. He will present the NRAO Colloquium. Dr. Torrelles will present “Short-lived Pulsed Outflow Events in Massive Proto-stars.” He uses the VLBA to observe water masers and study the dense, warm shocked gas very close to massive proto-stars. The very high-angular resolution of these observations allows measurements of the motions of the masers in a few weeks, and together with the radial velocity, to determine their full kinematics. He will summarize 10 years of observing the massive star-forming regions of Cepheus A, W75N, and AFGL 2591 and his group’s results. This colloquium will be at 11 a.m. in the Domenici Science Operations Center auditorium. All NRAO employees are invited to attend. The local host is Juergen Ott.
