College on the Rio Grande

College on the Rio Grande was printed in limited edition and is now out of print. Dr. Christiansen has given his permission for its reproduction here, and the Office for Advancement is pleased to make it available, in the interest of preserving Tech history.

This book is not written in straight chronological order but rather takes several different threads of New Mexico Tech's history and follows each one individually. Thus, one chapter will trace the history of the student body chronologically; another will follow the history of the administration, and others trace the history of buildings. To get a full picture of the institute during any one era, it is necessary to cull information from several chapters.

Editor's note: College on the Rio Grande: The Story of a Small School was written for New Mexico Tech's Centennial year, 1989, by Dr. Paige Christensen, professor emeritus of history. It was based on his earlier book, Of Earth and Sky, a history of the institution published in its 75th anniversary year, 1964.
