SOCORRO, N.M. October 19, 2010 -- The annual 49ers celebration has something for everyone this year.
The four days of activities includes alumni activities, student-sponsored fun and games, movies, casino night and bordello auction and the return of the Vigilante Band.

Alumni can register for the weekend's events from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the Fidel Center atrium.
Earlier on Thursday, the Residential Life office is hosting several events on the Athletic Field. Human foosball will be available for play from 4 to 7 p.m. President's Hall and Driscoll Hall will face on in volleyball at 4 p.m. North Hall and South Hall will play football at 5 p.m. Powderpuff football will begin at 6 p.m.
Friday’s activities include the annual SPE Gold Rush golf scramble, followed by a reunion for the Class of 1970. The Alumni Relations Office will also host a social for alumni and faculty on Thursday at the golf pavilion. To register to play in the Gold Rush Scramble, call Karen Balch at 835-5412 or call the pro shop at 5335.
During the afternoon Friday, the Student Activities Board is staging a heavy metal fest from noon to 4 p.m., complete with a make-your-own T-shirt booth, barbecue, ice cream and much more. After the live music, the annual rugby match features alums taking on students, also known as the Ancestors vs. the Pygmies.
Saturday’s parade features the theme of “Zombies Want Brains” … because where could zombies have an easier time finding brains than at New Mexico Tech. The line-up starts at 10 a.m. at
Saturday night's events include Casino Night and the Bordello Contest at Macey Center. Students are invited to the faux casino from 4 to 8 p.m., at which time the bordello contest begins.
For three nights, the Vigilante Band, which features a bevy of New Mexico Tech graduates, will return for their 29th year of live music during 49ers. The band will play Thursday through Saturday at the Capitol Bar.
As always, students, faculty and community members are invited to climb
All participants are invited to help give the ‘M’ its annual facelift and will be treated to hamburgers and drinks atop the mountain.
Sunday afternoon, the Beta Beta Beta chapter on campus will have a bake sale at the gym.
