MythBusters Putting On Free Show Wednesday

SOCORRO, N.M. March 4, 2013– The MythBusters are back in Socorro filming new episodes; and three of the show’s stars are presenting a new behind-the-scenes video and interacting with students.

Tory Belleci, Kari Byron and Grant Imahara – know as the Build Team – will take the stage from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Macey Center. Tickets are free but limited. Students can pick up tickets from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Fidel Center atrium.

Vice President of Research Dr. Van Romero said students can expect to run into the film crew and cast on campus this week. They will be filming tests at the EMRTC test range, but also filming some segments at various locations around campus – which they have only done sparingly in the past.

“We’re excited to have the MythBusters back on campus again,” Romero said. “They’ve graciously agreed to give a presentation to Techies and I thank them for being so willing to interact with students here at New Mexico Tech. I also thank our president, Dr. Daniel H. Lopez, for his generous support of this event and the MythBusters visit. We are definitely one of the only universities in the country that gets to brag about having the MythBusters come here. This will be a real treat for everyone.”
