Lillian Armijo, Director of Student Services, said students will find a variety of opportunities to start their career, gain experience through internships or continue their education.

“Our presenters this spring have jobs and internships available for students in every academic department on campus,” Armijo said. “We have a great mix of companies and agencies that are looking to hire Techies.”

For details on each presenter, see the Career Fair brochure online at www.nmt.edu/career-fair. Each recruiting group includes a description of the company and a list of disciplines they are hiring.

Students can prepare themselves for the Career Fair in several ways. First, students should research the companies in attendance and what their specialties are. Students should be prepared to talk about themselves and show some knowledge of the organization.

Students should bring resumés and dress professionally. Seven recruiters will be making appointments with students during the Career Fair for official interviews to be conducted the next day, Friday, Feb. 8.

Tech is also hosting three sessions to help students prepare.

A resumé and cover letter writing workshop is Wednesday, Jan. 30.

An interviewing workshop will be Thursday, Jan. 31.

A workshop on preparing for the Career Fair will be Monday, Feb. 4.

Each workshop is at 5 p.m. in the Career Services office (Fidel Center 262).

“We are here to help students make the transition from student to a career,” Armijo said. “These workshops and the career fairs are important events to help students. I encourage Techies to take advantage of the services we offer.”
